Defensive Shotgun - This is a 2 Day Course
Day 1 Classroom - 5:30PM to 9:00PM
Day 2 Range - 5:30PM to 9:30PM
WARNING !
This class is physically demanding. If you cannot hold your chosen shotgun in a firing position for 30 seconds you are not physically ready for this class.
This class is divided into two four hour blocks.
Four hours of classroom
This will cover nomenclature, loading, unloading, proper mount, manipulation, ammunition, recoil management and weapon capabilities.
The four hours of live fire will cover all of the above plus patterning, selecting ammunition, shooting while moving, shooting from cover, shooting in conditions of low , altered and failing light.
This class heavy on manipulation. This IS the issue with the shotgun.
Requirements:
- Serviceable repeating shotgun, 12 or 20 gauge capable of holding 4 rounds in the magazine. Pump or auto.
- The weapon MUST be fitted with a sling.
- A simple two point carry sling is fine.
- A weapons mounted light is encouraged, or a good quality hand held light.
- 60 - rounds of buck shot ( 00, #4, 000, #1 buckshot is fine)
- 15 - rounds reduced recoil slug rounds
