Kansas Hunter Safety Education

The Kansas Hunter Education Program’s mission is to produce safe, knowledgeable, responsible and involved hunters.  The main goal is to prevent hunting accidents and ensure the future of the hunting tradition.  This course is required for anyone born on or after July 1, 1957 with certain exceptions for youth hunting under supervision and adults new to hunting.  You must be at least 11 years old to participate and parents are encouraged to accompany their children.  There will be a total of 10 hours of instruction over a two day time span, typically a weeknight and a Saturday.  Each course includes hands-on participation with firearms (no live ammunition), survival technique demonstration and participation in field safety exercises as well as the opportunity for optional live fire exercises.  The course is taught with a fun and interactive approach ensuring that every participant, regardless of age, has a basic understanding of the subject matter and successfully completes the program.
